Drug Education To Encourage
Responsibility (DETER)
The DETER Program is an interactive
education and information workshop which is presented by
trained professionals and offers additional information as
an adjunct to current harm minimization approaches.
This Program has been presented to over
1000 high school students in South Australia with the main
objective being to ensure that youth are made aware of the
long term side effects of mind altering substances.

of mind altering substances on the Central Nervous
System

Social Impact on the individual using
drugs - Breakdown of familial relationships

Impact on health and well-being for
example, The Physical, Psychological & Emotional side
effects

The Recovery Process of Addiction -
Living life free of drugs requires a life-long
commitment
Recovered addicts who have completed all
levels of the DrugBeat of SA Program assist facilitators by
sharing their personal stories of drug related trauma and
answering questions from students to assist them to face the
hard realities of life as a drug user.
